Rob Pruyne
Rob’s yoga journey began in his youth, when he first encountered yoga and meditation as a way to improve his mental focus as a wrestler and football player. But it wasn’t until much later, during a personal weight loss journey, that yoga truly found its way into his heart and life. Reconnecting with the practice, Rob quickly discovered how yoga provided not only physical benefits, but also a profound mental shift—calming his mind and grounding his presence. This sparked a deeper curiosity, and soon, he felt called to understand yoga on a more intimate level.
In 2021, Rob completed his RYT-200 training at the YogaLife Institute of NH, immersing himself in classical yoga traditions. In 2025 he finished his 500 hour training at the Portland Yoga project. His teaching style is a blend of Vinyasa and Classical yoga, with a gentle nod to Yin, emphasizing both the flow and the rootedness of yoga’s timeless philosophy. For Rob, yoga is about more than just asana—it’s about connection: to the body, the breath, and the rich history of the practice itself. Through his classes, he encourages students to tap into the profound inner peace yoga can offer, while also recognizing that yoga is for everybody—no matter where they are on their journey.
Having once felt out of place in a studio, Rob understands the vulnerability that can accompany stepping onto the mat for the first time. He hopes to be a guide for those hesitant to practice, showing them that the yoga community is welcoming and inclusive. As a teacher, Rob believes yoga is an ever-evolving path, and he remains deeply committed to learning and growing within its vast landscape.
When he’s not on the mat, Rob works in regional planning and natural resources, using his skills as a mapmaker to explore and analyze data. Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time in nature—whether it’s hiking through the woods or woodworking at home. He treasures the moments shared with his partner, child, and their golden retriever, Ted, always finding ways to live in harmony with the world around him.
For Rob, yoga is a lifelong journey—one of learning, connecting, and growing into the fullest version of oneself. And he’s just getting started.
